this pretty young thing is the sweetest blessing of my life. my best friend. my new husband.
this is the day he proposed. it was perfect! |
It was 2002, in Fountain, Colorado. He was my first kiss. I was 14; he was 16, and boy did I like him. He was older, and I had never really had a boyfriend. After 6 months of 'going out', we ended things and stayed friends for the rest of our high school years. When Christian graduated high school, he joined the U.S. Army. In 2007, he deployed to Iraq for 15 months. During his deployment, we exchanged emails and eventually long phone calls. I can't even write this without tears welling up in my eyes... I'm so thankful for his sacrifice and for the sacrifice of his friends...
Still celebrating in Fallujah, Iraq, 2007. |
Midway through his deployment, Christian returned to Colorado for his R&R. I met him there, for what was supposed to only be 18 hours, and we both knew that this was it. Our second chance was the only chance we needed. He was my world.
September 25, 2011, before our Savior, our family, and our friends, Christian and I exchanged vows. Only second to giving my life to the Lord, marrying Christian was the best decision I've ever made. We have been together (this time) for nearly 5 years. Every day is a new chance to fall in love again. I am so blessed by him!
Speaking of military, I grew up a military brat. A child of two incredible people, and a sister to four very special brothers. I'm sure much of what you will read will surround the people who helped make me that way... My crazy, imperfectly perfect, sweet family.
L to R: Nate Mark, Me, Weston Jordan, Christian, Daddy (Mark), Jacob Charles, Momma (DeAnne), Adam Owen. |
haha. Adam and I as little lads. |
The other three boys in the picture might come as a shock... I get this a lot: "Oh- your parents are brave having 5 children that far apart", or: "Wow, did your parents get bored after 15 years of having you two?" Haha. All in good fun. I say close to the same thing every time... "No... Nate, Wes, and Jacob are adopted... And they're the three most incredible little boys on the planet". Again, with tears in my eyes, because that's how I operate, I tell them the story about how our family grew from 4 to 7 almost over night. I could never imagine life without these boys. I honestly don't remember much of life before them. They bring so much joy to my life. You will hear loads about them throughout my blog.
I hope you enjoy my thoughts as much as I enjoy sharing them. Life is wonderful.
