big day in the Chacon household!

As you will come to learn, Christian and I have a strong desire and a heart to do mission work. Last April, Christian, myself, and 10 other guys and gals from our church went to Jacmel, Haiti. IT WAS INCREDIBLE. I mean like, really freaking amazing. Some day soon I'll post pictures of the trip. Here's one of Christian on his second trip to Jacmel...

While I love Haiti and the people there, this post is about something completely different. This year we had the opportunity to go to India with some other folks from the church. After much prayer and deliberation, we decided to turn it down. We knew we needed to devote our time off from work to spend time with Christian's family. Because we live far away from all of them, we don't get as much time with them as we'd like. 

Today, in approximately 5.5 hours, I will be picking his mom Ruth, and niece, Maria, up from the Atlanta airport. So excited! They are spending 9 days in Chattanooga with us, then we are all flying down to St. Petersburg, FL to visit his brother Jacques and his soon to be wife, Melinda. If you didn't know, my in-laws are awesome. We always have way too much fun during our visits...

We are so looking forward to their visit. It's been too long! Really wishing that Shelly was going to be here too. She is the best sister both to Christian, and now to me. There's something so special about in-laws; especially these ones.

Jacob & Kennedy- Ring Bearer & Flower Girl

Christian and I were married at the Gordon Lee Mansion. It was the only structure that was used during and still survived the Great Battle of Chickamauga (CA. 1847). We both love history, so naturally we fell in love with this place. It had a beautiful garden in the back, with living quarters where we were able to get dressed. It was perfect for us.

Keeping with the vintage, historical theme, we used this little gem. My late uncle collected cars, and we were given permission to use it for our big day. It was such a nice touch! I came down the aisle in it with my dad, and left with Christian. It was perfectly symbolic.

Probably two of the most special people in our lives... Stephen and Christian have been best friends since I can remember. Stephen and I went to church together growing up, so he had a chance to see both Christian and I grow and become who we are today. Brooke is my best friend. She is my 'person'. (Grey's Anatomy reference..boo!) I love this girl and I couldn't have had a better MOH by my side.

How's that title for inspiration? Not sure why that song started playing on my Pandora, but I knew once I heard a few of Reba's songs, circa 1994, I had found the perfect station. Now I just can't get enough! No judging allowed! Did I mention that? While I hope people find my blog entertaining, I don't expect everyone to love it. However... I don't do well with criticism that is unwarranted, so no mean comments please.


My first blog post has to be intriguing; so.much.pressure... But because I am starting this blog for me, and to help document my life, I'm just going to write. Even if it's boring, I'm going to write it. I need this. I hope you come to love reading about my thoughts as much as I love the process that helps me to form them.
